Pulling an All-Nighter

Pulling an All-Nighter - Seekingthesouthblog.blogspot.com

Finals: fi·nals noun (plural), death by examination.

Finals, where an entire semester of lectures and tests mean nothing and one grade holds your fate in its hands. Isn't that so comforting? Well, lucky lil me got to have not one, but two finals on my first day of college final exams. Lovely. After staring blankly at my study guides for the last week, I realized it was time to buckle down and cram. You all know that feeling. You know nothing but you're determined to get the grade. Pure determination. To keep myself accountable and [somewhat] focused, I documented my night, all for your entertainment.

Pulling an All-Nighter - Seekingthesouthblog.blogspot.com1:47pm I begin to study in my favorite building on campus. I'm aware of what you're thinking. "Emma, no wonder you have to pull an all-nighter, you started so late." Well you know what? That's what happens when you're in college and decide staying up until 4am for fun is a good idea. I'll deal with my own consequences thank you very much.
2:00pm The room I reserved (ok, Logan reserved it...) opens up. Time for some serious studying.
2:30pm I'm joined by my roommate and her friends from her class. Focus level drop exponentially.
5:00pm Our room reservation has run out and we're kicked out. The rest decide to leave, but I switch rooms to continue the grind.
5:30pm I'm kicked out of room number 2. Yay. I resort to chairs in the hallway.
8:00pm Our calculus study group decides to meet in another building with whiteboards. I trek over there.
9:55pm I'm hungry. So naturally I head to the union for some pizza but am sadly disappointed when there is only chicken fingers. I settle.
10:43pm After a short (ok, 40 minutes isn't exactly short) snack break, I return back to the study room.
Pulling an All-Nighter - Seekingthesouthblog.blogspot.com10:54pm I begin profusely sweating, the room is set at 72 degrees and will not change. This might be the end. I'm dying in the worst possible way: surrounded by math.
11:43pm Bathroom break. I guess two cups of coffee, multiple bottles of water and a Vitamin Water flow right through ya.
11:55pm I got distracted by pictures of cats on my Twitter feed. Must. Study.
12:15am My friends have decided to leave. I'm a one-man wolfpack now. I decide to go back to my original study spot.
12:20am I crack open a Redbull. It's going to be a long night.
12:59am I realize how bad I am at calculus and consider a change of major
1:18am The Redbull is gone. I need another but that would require walking to the library. No thanks.
1:26am I decide to take a study break to check Pinterest. Naturally I end up answering comments on my last blog post.
1:44am Get back to work, Emma.
Pulling an All-Nighter - Seekingthesouthblog.blogspot.com2:36am How am I not tired yet? That Redbull must have worked!! It's now become a competition between myself and everyone else in this building to see who will survive to the end. I realize I've been working for 12 and a half hours. Ha. Haha. Hahaha.
2:34am My mind can't comprehend calculus anymore. Time to switch to sociology.
3:17am I don't know how much longer I can go on. I know sociology like the back of my hand but I can't bring myself to go back to studying calculus...
3:21am There's only a few of us left in the building. We can do this people. And I really want some pizza. Too bad the delivery place closed at 3...
3:58am As much as I hate to admit it, I've spent the last 15 minutes watching YouTube videos so I think it's time to throw in the towel. I'm going to try to wake up early (ish) tomorrow to review.
4:07am I make it back to the dorm without seeing anyone. C'mon people am I really the only one cramming??
Pulling an All-Nighter - Seekingthesouthblog.blogspot.com4:22am Ahhhh bedtime.
9:00am *groans* Good morning.
9:13am The only thing keeping me alive is knowing in a few hours I'll be done with calc forever.
9:30am Time to study... again.
10:45am Breakfast sounds like a good idea, yeah, time for breakfast.
11:00am Well, here goes nothing.

As you can tell I didn't exactly pull an all-nighter... but hey it was pretty close. For anyone that care both of my finals weren't completely horrible and I'm feeling pretty confident! Two down and three to go! Hope everyone is doing well on theirs, we can do it together!
