Discount Decor Finds!

For those of you who've followed me for a while, you know I have a serious passion for interior design. Luckily for me, I'm at the age that I'm changing living situations every year or so (from dorm to dorm to apartment, etc.) so that means I get to have some fun and decorate! Looking back, I threw together a little inspiration board for both my freshman dorm and my sophomore dorm. (Ummm can you believe I'm about to be a junior in college?!?!) Well, today's post isn't exactly an inspiration board, but if you want to see my plans for my new house (okay, it's a duplex) check out my Pinterest boards for my bedroom/bathroom and for the living room/kitchen.

So now that I'm home in Kansas City for a few weeks before I head back to Fort Worth, I basically have nothing to do, so naturally I'm buying things for my house! I headed to my local Goodwill just for the heck of it, not really looking for anything specific, and I ended up finding this fabulous Pier1 side table for just $10. That's right. Ten freaking dollars. I thought this table would look great in our living room, but I want everything to be pretty bright so I'm planning on painting the base gold and the top white!

The next amazing find was these cacti salt and pepper shakers! Cacti are all the rave right now and I found these cuties for just $3. I haven't decided if I want to actually use them for their intended use, but I think they could use a little glossy paint and would be fine by themselves as cute, kitschy decor!

The next haul of goodies comes from HomeGoods, which is hands down my favorite place to find home decor. I probably bought a majority of my dorm decor from this place and it's still in great condition. Anyway, I convinced my mom to make a trip with me and we found some great things! I think I'm most excited about the pineapple dishtowel. I think it'll brighten up our drab rental kitchen and pineapples are clearly very trendy right now.

I had to grab a lemon juicer for some lemon water, and it works great to add some lemon juice to avocado toast as well! We also found this cute coral frame with gold detail, and everyone knows coral is my color. Switch out the picture and I think it'll look great on my bedside table!

The third and final stop was Tuesday Morning, which is another great place to find discounted home decor (they always have a huge selection of throw pillows if you're looking for that). I found these adorable framed mixed drink art. I thought these would be cute either above our future bar cart or in the kitchen area. I like the mojito and margarita prints better than the manhattan print, so that one might end up getting the boot. Whether I end up using them or not, the frames are a great size (and price!) to be used in a gallery wall.

All in all, I was super ecstatic about all of these goodies and am super excited about finally moving in and decorating the new house! I promise I'll definitely do a room/house tour when all is said and done, but I'll try to do a few posts before then of some of the progress! I move in the beginning of June and because I do not have a job/internship yet (hire me!!!) I'll be dedicating a lot of my time to the house project! Wish me luck!
